No More Thumb!

Four years of thumb sucking is enough!  We first thought the thumb was better than the pacifier because the thumb will never be lost in the middle of the night or during church; we didn't think that the benefits would become disadvantages.  But Morgan is doing very well with proper encouragement.  We told everyone to encourage her and her preschool teacher responded well by giving Morgan one award on Thursday and Friday for not sucking her thumb.  She is now to the point where she is spreading the word herself.  She told her primary teacher today "I can't suck my thumb anymore so if you see me stick my thumb in my mouth then you tell me to take it out."  Even her eight year old friend is reminding her to remove her thumb.  Morgan is doing so well we can actually measure the time she used to spend sucking her thumb, because now she replaced it with talking and telling knock-knock jokes--or I should say joke, there is only one, about a banana, and apparently it is the funniest knock-knock joke around.  But compared to the thumb the joke is sweet music and the talking has become quite fun.  So if you catch Morgan on the phone or see her on the webcam feel free to ask her about her thumb, you might get her talking or even tell you her favorite joke.
